A support call is not a medical consultation. The attending physician is responsible for deciding what treatment is appropriate.

The telephone support service is not an emergency addiction service. Any request that requires a consultation in person will be dealt with in accordance with applicable procedures (assessment and prioritization).

Service d'avis d'expert en douleur chronique, Centre d'expertise en gestion de la douleur chronique du Réseau universitaire intégré de santé de l'Université de Montréal [Expert support service for the treatment of chronic pain, RUIS, UdM]

This program is a telephone support service provided to primary care physicians by specialist physicians. The goal is to provide clinical support and advice about pharmacological modalities, specific interventions for the treatment of chronic pain and associated pathologies.

The service in six steps:

  1. Obtain a form
  • By telephone: 514 890-8000, extension 16802
  • By fax: 514 412-7041
  • By downloading the form from the RUIS site: http://ruis.umontreal.ca (in the left-hand menu, click on Centre d’expertise en gestion de la douleur chronique)
  • By downloading the form from the CRAN site: Form (available in French only)
  1. Fill out the form, stating your needs. There are two types of requests:
  • A request for information about a medication, an intervention or a pathology

OR

  • A request for an opinion about a patient.
  1. Fax the form to us at 514 412-7041.
  2. We will contact your secretary to schedule a telephone appointment on one of the two half-days the specialist physicians are available to speak to you.
  3. The specialist physician will contact you at the appointed time and day to answer your question or discuss the case with you.
  4. The specialist physician will write a report that will be faxed to you.
